Key Insights and Essential Information

To study in Canada, you need to be accepted by a designated learning institution (DLI) based on your previous studies and your level of English or French.
To plan your future in Canada, it is recommended to study a bachelor’s, master’s or PHD degree.

You must obtain a study permit to legally study in Canada. In some cases, you may also need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) depending on your country of citizenship.
You must prove that you have sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses.
Your spouse or common law partner can receive a work permit only if you study a master’s or PHD degree.

International students in Canada can
Work on campus as many hours as allowed by their institution
Work off-campus for up to 20 hours per week during regular academic seasons
Work full-time during scheduled breaks for up to 4 months per year.
This work experience DOES NOT count towards your application for permanent residency.

After completing your studies, you may be eligible for a PGWP of up to 3 years, allowing you to gain valuable Canadian work experience and potentially transition to permanent residency.
*Not all institutions and study programs are eligible for a PGWP and you must confirm prior to starting your studies.
