This program is available for artists or athletes who can prove they will be self-employed upon immigrating to Canada. The applicants must have 2 years of self-employment or international experience. They must provide proof and a business plan to describe how they will earn money as self-employed and contribute to the Canadian economic and cultural growth.
BC PNP ENTREPRENEUR
The province of British Columbia has a program for entrepreneurs from around the world who wish to start a new business or purchase and expand an existing business while creating a new job for a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident. In return for their investment, the entrepreneur and his family can receive their Canadian permanent residency.
INVESTOR THROUGH FTA
The government of Canada welcomes investors from different countries around the world to start a new business or purchase an existing business and move to Canada to actively operate it. The investor program is available to citizens of countries who have a free trade agreement with Canada with an investor clause put into force.
IMMIGRATION FOR PROFESSIONALS & STUDENTS
EXPRESS ENTRY
This is the general program for Canadian permanent residency. The program is a competitive points-based system. Points are earned depending on age, education, work experience, and proficiency in English and/or French.
Candidates can apply from all around the world by submitting their professional profile and receiving a personal score. The Canadian government selects the applicants with the highest scores for permanent residency.
STUDENTS
Studying in Canada at the post-secondary level gives immigrants several advantages.
Besides gaining up-to-date industry knowledge, international students can receive a post graduation work permit to accumulate work experience in Canada and apply for permanent residency.
International students can come to Canada with their families and their spouses can work while they study.
WORK PERMIT
Obtaining an authorization to work in Canada is not a simple process. Most programs require a job offer from a Canadian employer, and in some cases, the employer must prove to the Canadian government that they cannot find Canadian citizens or permanent residents to do the job. However, citizens of countries with free trade agreements or people who are fluent in French may be exempt from this requirement. There are also a few programs that can give candidates an open work permit based on their age and nationality.
